Logical Star Topology
General Notes

- Start topology is most common in networks. This is mainly because of the ease of configuring and troubleshooting it.
- Each node has its own connection to a switch that is the central node.
- Currently all logical star topologies also use a physical star topology.
- On a logical star every node exists on its own network segment with the switch.
- In current configurations this connection is full duplex, as it includes two distinct transmission channels - one for sending and one for receiving.
- Frames on each channel always travel in a single direction - either a frame is travelling from node to switch or it is on the other channel travelling from switch to node.
- When a node sends a frame the switch detects the destination MAC address and transmits the frame only to the node with that MAC address.
